The island is famous for its local kitchen, which includes dishes like 'sofrito',' bourdeto', 'popletes' and the Corfiot pasticcio as well as and many sweets: nougat, pastaflores, candies, fougatses, tzaletia, bianketa (small almond with skin of mandarins) and rozada. The trademark of the island is the kumquat, a dwarf fruit with a strong sweet-bitter taste, perfect for liqueurs, sweets and jam. On the island grow small vineyards that produce wines of superior taste and quality,and the main varieties of vines are 'kakotrygi' 'the muscatel' and 'Petrokoritho'. In the city there are many workshops on wood carving, weaving and pottery stores like jewelry, leather goods, souvenirs, and generally, what one encounters in a modern city.
